Shelli and Buddy

On February 24, 2009 my dog of 15 years passed away and the same week my son, Sgt. Larry White, USMC was deployed to Iraq.  I was lost and so depressed I didn't think I could make it through another day. Then a sweet lady told me about an adoption being held by the Humane Society at the Rim in San Antonio.  I drove out and by a miracle no less I found my little Buddy. No one wanted him because he was born without a tail but I knew he didn't need a tail to be the best friend ever.

Buddy showed me how smart he is on the first day he was home and I immediately enrolled him into classes for puppies.  There I met Karen Minson, who at the time I had no idea was involved in therapy dogs but I had mentioned to her that I would like to pursue that route.  Karen evaluated Buddy and saw something special in him right away.

The rest as they say is history. Buddy now visits the Boerne Library, attends Yellow Ribbon events and is in the beginning stages of visiting hospitals, and nursing homes.  My goal is to visit the wounded warriors and be a part of saying "thank you" to the men and woman who give so much for our freedoms.
